Dreaming of film…

April 7, 2011 - Leave a Response

Lately I’ve been thinking about experimenting with film photography. I used to use it when I was young, and a little bit at university, but then got caught up in the digital revolution.
There’s something so satisfying about film photography. You take care to savour every shot instead of snapping away like you do with digital hoping for a good shot, and then you wait a week to get them developed, all the while wondering what they’re going to turn out like.

I’m thinking expired film might be fun… you never really know what you’re going to get. I’ve heard leaving it out in the sun for awhile damages film quite nicely.

I know there’s still a lot of people out there who appreciate the art of film photography, so any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated:)

Laugh out loud!

Just thought I’d share these hilarious letterpress prints I stumbled across on Cellardoor Magazine. If they don’t brighten up your wet and windy week (for those in the southern hemisphere), I don’t know what will.

This photo was taken at my dad’s 50th birthday party. This little boy and his sister were the only kids there, and he was so shy- officially my new favourite black and white pic:)

Autumn leaves are falling…

March 2, 2011 - Leave a Response

I was driving to work this morning and noticed golden leaves littering the ground along the main road. It’s officially my favourite season!
Hello autumn! Goodbye muggy, hot, sweaty summer.

In autumn I love:

>How nature turns orange, copper, gold, rust, red, yellow
>How the air smells so crisp and fresh as the cold air moves in
>Crunching leaves under my shoes
>Wearing wooly scarves with t-shirts
>Wearing jeans
>Wearing beanies with sunglasses
>Lying in bed on a rainy Sunday morning listening to the rain pound on the windows
>Snuggling on the couch with a good book and a mug of milo
>Snuggling under the duvet
>Snuggling my warm furnace-man

Wings Over Wairarapa

February 28, 2011 - Leave a Response

Was a great day out with Dad and sis, even if it did rain…… and get cancelled on the second day. Don’s ask me what these planes are called or what battle they are re-enacting, I have no idea – ask dad. But it was great seeing the planes flying around doing all their spins and patterns in the cloudy sky. And the thing I love about these events is all the dads and their sons – especially the little ones – they just get so excited about everything and they get to be boys together. It’s a beautiful thing:)

Christchurch Earthquake

February 24, 2011 - Leave a Response

At 4.35am on Saturday, September 4th 2010, Christchurch, New Zealand was struck by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake which damaged buildings and injured people but thankfully, no one was killed.

At 12.50pm on Tuesday, February 22nd, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch shattered what was left of the broken city and has so far killed 76 people, with over 300 people still missing. It has caused complete chaos, with collapsed buildings, roads torn apart, burst pipes pouring sewage through the streets, people missing and homes destroyed.

It has been labeled New Zealand’s worst natural disaster and the whole country is in a state of emergency. We are all lending a hand, with food, money, fire fighters, civil defence personnel, nurses and prayers.

Please help our beautiful garden city get back on its feet by donating whatever you can.
